1kg potatoes

1/4 litre milk

1 carton double cream

1 garlic clove

fresh thyme

pinch of nutmeg



  1. preheat the oven,rub the butter all over the surface of gratin dish,peel and slice potatoes ,keep them covered.
  2. poor milk and crean in saucepan add garlic thyme let it boil for few minutes remove it from the heat,sprinkle in the nutmeg and keep warm.
  3. layer half the potatoes in the dish .
  4. poor half the hot cream over the potatoes then finish off layering the rest of the potatoes poor over the rest of the cream scatter the cheese over the top and bake for about one hour ,until golden and tender then serve.
  5. enjoy
